Surya has stole the theaters with his mega movie, Vaaranam Aayiram where 2 heroines play the female role. The first half of the movie goes pretty good with surya double acting in the movie as a father and as a son.
The story starts with the flashback of father Surya in bed being shown as seriously ill and in hospital due to smoking and his son working for the army and he is on a mission. When travelling to that place, he gets the information that his father passes away and he shares the sorrow feeling with his fellow army members.
He then thinks of his father, mom and all other relations in his heart while travelling. He also recollects his mom telling about his father's love for Simran(Malini) and then the story shifts to the flashback about his son(Surya). At all possible moments, the son Surya mentions that his father is his inspiration all the time.
After a song sequence, the actor is shown admitting to college and the actor is not able to complete his studies successfully. Later, when he returns home from college to his home, he meets his love and beauty(also mine:D) Meghna(Sameera Reddy) and immediately falls in love with Sameera Reddy.Then they chat and Surya proposes his love to meghna. Meghna tells that "How can someone fall immediately by just seeing a person?It is just lust,not love. Then storyline changes to problem around Surya's house. Surya get busy solving their loans and debts that his father had acquired. Then the story is shown as Surya going with his guitar to Meghna's house and asking for Sameera Reddy' s hand in marriage. But Sameera rejects it saying that even if she falls in love with Sameera Reddy her father has to accept for marriage and he will also ask for his
educational qualification. Then Surya asks Sameera reddy to have lunch with him today or tomorrow or like that. Sameera rejects and when he asks saturday or sunday she tells that she is leaving for Berkeley University,San Francisco. Son Surya tells him to his dad that she has left and his father tells to go in search of her. Surya applies for Visa and he gets it for 5 years. Then he goes to San Francisco and meets Sameera Reddy who makes surya stay in her room and then after adiyey kolluthey song she starts loving surya and accepts his proposal. Then they make love and then she dies in a bomb blast when she goes for a project work. He returns back home and slowly it catches his day to day life and he succumbs to the pressure of the seperation from his beloved. slowly he catches up by drug addiction and there harris jeyaraj throws in a wonderfull song "Ava Enna", which slowly and nicely shows the transition and pain suriya undergoes. finally not able to see their son growing into a gruesome and uncontrollable wreck that he is, they physically control him and set him of on a journey to an undisclosed destination. he travels to Jammu and kashmir, where he with much pain gets off the habit. Good job, suriya and gautam on showing realistically on the effects and aftermath of drug addiction. then surya flies back to delhi as he saw a television news reel about the kidnapping of a kid whose father was responsible for the transition of surya into a fine man during his trials of truimph and pain. surya takes a new avatar and rescues the kid from the villains[prithviraj]. finally surya sets his eyes on NSG and then he marries Priya[dhivya spandana]. a good tribute to NSG and their grand endevaeour and pledge to the nation for their ever appreciable and unmatched service. hats off! finally the last scene comprises of surya paying last respects to himself[his father surya] where simran signs off saying some kavithai or something.
